Bridesmaids

My fellow Bay Area blogger Lotta made a quick comment on the movie Bridesmaids the other week, and I finally found the time to watch it last night.
It annoys me that big studios have to promote their movies in only two ways: action or comedy. There are no other labels apparently. And granted, there were plenty of light-hearted moments (I refrain from calling them "funny") but while I had been led to believe this was a movie about a group of girls going on a crazy batchelorette weekend in Vegas, that it was a female road movie, equivalent to Hangover etc, that was not what I was given. I hate when a movie doesn't do what it says on the packaging. I kind of like Kristen Wiig but I didn't like any of the other girls. And if I want to see a funny, sexy, cool movie about women for women (refraining from using the term "chick flick"), I don't want to see a bunch of girls throwing up on each other.
But maybe I'm just too old...

Movits!

Went to see the Swedish swing jazz/hip hop band Movits! at the Red Devil Lounge on Sunday night. These guys know how to work a crowd! Am hoping they'll come back soon again:

My beautiful city

I love this time-lapse film, it shows my city in it's glory and reminds me of what it was I fell in love with when I first visited here many years ago.

I love living in North Beach, but

if one more car blocks my drive way I will not be responsible for my actions. There is a big garage door right there - how can you not see it!?
I make a lot of money for the city by keep getting cars towed, but I could have more fun with my time, that's a fact.

They miss her even in haight-ashbury

Breakfast at blue front cafe on haight.
French toast with mapel syrup. It's been that kind of weekend.
