My friend and I had a debate regarding Twitter in New York. She uses it, I don't. I think I lost, 'cos I have just signed up. And this blog post is only a test to check if my twitter feed is active.
Yep, I lost.

Spring is in the air.

I promise to stay fit and healthy for as long as I can

I do what everyone else does on New Year Eve in this city, and promise to exercise more. So along with everyone else I start going to the gym in the mornings. A week later I catch the flu and is bed bound. Is that why all the gyms are empty by February? It can't be because people don't keep their resolutions for more than a month, can it?

Note to self:

If you haven't been to a gym to do weighs, squats, sit-up's or push-up's for 18 months, don't do back to back classes on your first day back.....

Moving furniture.

I think we just had an earthquake. I was in the garage and didn't feel anything, just heard a strange rumble. That's easy to blame the washing machine for, but Holly said her furniture started to shake.

Birthdays

My gorgeous little nugget turned 9 on Tuesday.
She's one of my favorite people to hang out with. She's thoughtful, chilled and cool and has a cracking sense of humor.
But this is it - please don't grow anymore. Don't turn another year older. A mother's dilemma is just that: you want them to grow their wings but try to keep them in the nest for as long as possible.

How did you spend your morning?

I went running on Ocean Beach.
It was very hard.
Thinking of taking up windsurfing instead.

My Sunday was spent signing, reading, filling in, and signing some more preschool documents as Finn is embarking on a new phase in his life. I must have been occupied with other worries when Holly started Pre-K 4,5 years ago. I don't remember a pile of papers this big.
Do I really need to give permission for the teachers to put sunscreen on his face? If it's sunny, please do, if it's not, don't bother.
And permission for pictures? Sure, if you could catch him sitting still long enough....

The handbook, the medical forms, the in case of emergency forms, the earthquake and fire drill forms, the food policy, the "get to know your child" form, all the various care and share documents, they all fill very vital parts in my son's educational development from hereon. But there are so many of them.
It's an important exercise in how to best waste a lot of trees at the same time.

Every Swede knows that you have to watch Ivanhoe on New Years Day. And every year we ask the same question: how could he pass on Rebecca for Lady Rowena? It still baffles me.
