This guy was driving ahead of us down 17th and we were wondering what the big metal hoop on the roof was for. An hour later we saw him in Golden Gate Park, up side down, doing tricks with the same hoop.
The kids were very impressed. So were we, it goes without saying.

My future is a yarn
Have taken up knitting - again. This morning I was hanging out with the knitting aficionados of Mission Dolores while having a very nice man helping me mattress stitching the cardigan I am knitting for Holly.
I can so see myself in the same place, 20 years from now, sipping mint tea and knitting woolly socks. I think this is my future. It's looking bright.

Only in San Francisco
A man and a woman in their sixties bond in the check out queue at my local grocery store. They talk about Bob Dylan lyrics. Then they move on to talking about the live concerts they went to see back them. All the great bands, all the incredible happenings. They don't mind me listening in and I smile in awe at their stories
- Mind you, laughs the woman in a grey ponytail and reading glasses firm on the tip of her nose. I can't remember much about some of it. I used to smoke a lot of marijuana back then.
- I hope you still do, says the man and blinks at her as he leaves. He wears a worn leather cowboy hat and a very long beard.
The woman turns to me with the mischievous smile of a little girl.
- I still do. But these days it's more for medicinal purposes.

Jultomten will be busy this year.
Have been nagging Holly to write her wish list for a long time now, hinting that Santa get's busier the closer we get to Christmas. I was feeling kind of proud of her when she let out that she actually couldn't think of anything special she wanted.
"Oh, great, she doesn't get influenced by TV commercials and peer pressure", I thought.
Finally she wrote her letter last night, addressed it to Santa Claus at the North Pole and put a stamp on the envelope.
Santa Clauses' Bay Area PA read the letter late last night. This is what it said.
"... I don't want a toy, but I really want powers, any kind of powers. I really, really, really wanted powers it feels like forever! Sorry I'm bothering you so much, but I really, really, really want powers. It could be any kind of powers, smartest, memorizing best, flying, dodging, making songs, making books, make bad things good things, time meddler, have lot's of courage, wizard (like Harry Potter), fastest, cleanest, any powers that uses hands, most creative, makes anything you want happen, hypnotizing, making bad people good people, make wishes come true. it could be any of that!!! Water type, fire type, earth type, air type or it could be all of those suggestions I made together. Sorry again I am troubling you so much but really if you give me powers I will appreciate it so, so, so much! Thank you!"

Lunch dates
The couple next to me in Boulange were on an internet lunch date.
- Look at the waitress, said the guy to the blonde date. She's gorgeous. She's that really dark, Mediterranean type.
- Is that what you're in too?
- Yeah!
They finished their lunch in silence.
I wonder if they will see each other again.
